乙女と乙男のペアクッション My Class in April

乙男と書いて何と読むかご存知ですか?昨年暮れ、ネットで遊んでいたら、”中高生が辞書にのせたい新語”なる記事に行き当たり、一人で大笑いしました。最優秀作品に輝く「乙男」はオトメンと読み、意味は乙女心をもった男性、しかしなよなよしていてはダメで男気もなくてはいけないのです。一人で楽しんでいるにはもったいないと思い、さまざまな新語を教室でご披露したのですが、その頃ちょうどSeikoさんがこのペアクッションを作っていました。彼女のご主人はどうやら乙男の資格十分そうでしたので、『乙女と乙男のペアクッション』と命名しました。先日、お花見に行ったとき彼女のお家に寄らせてもらったら、例のペアクッションが仲良く並んでいました。

When we went to see cherry blossom two weeks ago, Seiko invited us to her house. I found there a pair of cushions she made last year. I had missed a chance to taking photos of them before, but fortunately now. They are very pretty, aren't they?





ちょっと前、米原万理さんの本を読んでいたら、同時通訳でもっとも難しいのは笑いをとるもの、とくに言葉遊びのような駄洒落に類するもの、とありましたが、「乙女と乙男」はどうやっても英語には訳せないですよね。
