May Flowers in England

It was a big sansation I met Carol in England. She is doing a Japanese embroidery and a frequent visitor to this blog. She lives very close to Buckingham so we had arranged to see. She invited me to a very nice country pub restrant in the evening I arrived there. Even she and her husband drove me from Buckingham to Nottingham when I moved to see my daughter. Carol, thank you very much for your warm hospitality. Please send my best regards to your handsome John.

She told me how she loved the beautiful country view. She said March is a yellow month with Cowslips and daffodils. April is pink with cherry and apple blossoms. And her most favorite May is white with Mayflower, dasies, Queen Ann's lace and etc. June would be more colouful with roses.

I took some photos of flowers I haven't seen here in Japan. I even don't know their names. If someone teach me, I would be very happy.
(Mock Orange Blossom)

I know this is rose.

Climbing Hydrangea

Sweetbrier?

Lilac?

Ceanothus (California Lilac)

Laburnum

a red flowered Horse Chestnut

Hawthorn blossom?

hawthorne

In a foreign country something is in common with us and another is different in both culture and nature. I always enjoy them very much.

Carol taught me some names of flowers by comment, so I have added them. Please read her explanation on her comment. Thanks, Carol.

I can't help you with the names, as I'm not very good at that myself, but the pictures are certainly beautiful. I love the background of the picture with Carol and John. How wonderful that you got to meet them!

Dear Hideko
It was my great pleasure to meet you. As you were so close to my home, how could I resist? The picture of Jon and me, reminds me of the lovely visit we had to Newstead Abbey - somewhere I would not have know about if not for you.
I can help with some of the plants. The first looks like Mock Orange Blossom, it is beautifully scented. The next is of course a rose. The third is a Climbing Hydrangea. I can’t help with the next three. The blue flowered shrub is Ceanothus (California Lilac) it comes in a wide range of stunning blue shades. The yellow tree is Laburnum. This was very unpopular here because the seeds are poisonous but it is becoming popular again because it is so beautiful. Next is a red flowered Horse Chestnut and the last one looks like hawthorne.

Susan,
The backgroud of Carol and John is Newstead Abbey in Nottingham. It was Lord Byron's house. There is a Japanese Garden there but it was so cold that day we didn't want to walk around much. We missed it unfortunately. Hideko
