Tagged by Pat

Pat has tagged me to show you my workspace. I am working everything in our living room.

This place is my PC corner.

I usually using this space for my crazy quilting. You would see some plastic cases of fabrics.

On the cabinet there are lots of present projects in progress.

Here is an opened drawer with threads for seams.

一番下はUFO(Unfinished objects)の山。
A pile of UFOs in the lowest drawer.

Fabrics.

Beads.

SRE ribbons.

Contents of boxes.

Buttons.

But of course these are not all of my treasures. I am hiding more in every secret places; in sweet cans, in boxes, in drawers and etc.

Now I would like to tag Leslie and Jo. I will leave tomorrow and see you here in June again.

My Blocks of Tradewinds DYB

Tradewinds DYB
My blocks of the Tradewinds DYB have come back home already.

This DYB started last October. Jo embellished this block in beautiful autumn colours.

Leslie
I always adore Leslie's beautiful stitches.

The photo doesn't do justice to her neat seam treatments nor beautiful stumpwork of butterfly. I'll show the close-ups later.

Cheryl
Cheryl's embellishments reflect this spring season. I love a bird and nest very much.

This is a colaboration of Emiko and Cheryl.

I will show the details later.

The three prints I used are the calender of 1893. (I bought them from Flight of Fancy last year.) Flora Thompson, the author of "Lark Rise to Candleford" I am translating now, lived her childhood days in a small hamlet in Oxfordshire, England in those 80's. She was born in 1876, lived there till 1890 and died in Bournmouth on May 21 in 1947.
In this last week of May, lots of her 60th death anniverssary events are held in her native country. When I was invited to these events, I felt I should go. So I will leave next Wednesday.

The Last Block of Tradewinds DYB

This last work for Cheryl's block of Tradewinds DYB was a colaboration with Emiko.

Emiko has done like this.

I meant to blow wind on the block. But my stitching is so light everything would be blown away.

I've added a bit but still it looks too light.

Though I am not sure if my SRE has balanced the whole weight, I feel finished now.

7 Things about Me

I have been tagged by Elizabeth Z for the "7 Things about Me". This time I am expected to write 7 things about me. Is there anything I would interest you?

1, When I was small, I was so shy I couldn't speak anything at school for a year. I didn't answer teacher's checking attendance, couldn't read textbook, only answered questions by writing on the blackboard or papers when required. Nobody heard my voice in the classroom. But after school I was always playing with my brother and boys outdoor.
2, I am a bookworm. Still I buy lots of books, more than I read.
3, I learned how to crochet at six but how to embroider at forty-six.
4, I am a claustrophobic. I don't like to take a seat between two people. And I hate a flight. Thinking about being closed in air for hours makes me feel sick.
5, I can live without television programms but videofilms.
6, I have been married for 32 years and have two sons and a daughter. My daughter is now studying machine knitting in Notthingham, England. Now she's is very busy in her final year.
7, I love to be at home much better than going out. But it doesn't mean I love household. I love to be at home sometimes alone best.

I am afraid everyone I want to tag has been already tagged.

Sampler RR

I have joined "Sampler RR", which will start in June.

A few years ago I just played making this sampler block as a stitching practice and thought to develope this Black on Black CQ project. I collected many black fancy fabrics and made a few blocks, but the project has been a UFO as usual.

I would like to use this block. The photo dosen't look well but it does better in person.

Spring 1917

In Time of War (Puffin Books 1987) という二度の大戦時の詩を集めた本からとってあります。
Two days ago Jocelyn in NZ posted a message to the CQI about a TV documentary about Gallipoli, where enormous soldiers were killed in the World War I. Then I remembered this frame I cross-stitched 4 or 5 years ago and would like to share it with her. As you see this is a poem from the period of the wartime. Beatrice Mayer is unknown, but only known as an English woman.

Almost a century has passed. And human beings don't seem to have changed. Then what has been changed? Maybe a style of war. A hundred years ago soldiers fought at the front in battle field. Next cities were bombed and people were killed in sirens screaming. But now suddenly a person and a car blow off everything without any warning. In addition there are enough nuclear weapons to kill all the people many times. Do we call it a progress? There are some people who are thinking we Japanese are behind the present world situation. Do you know the article 9 of our Constitution, which forbids us wars. Why can't we be proud of it? I am concerning if we can keep the article in future.

There is no reason I have put this miniframe. For just only I made this in similar colors and at the same time. This was my first practice of SRE web rose.

I have been tagged again!

After Lorenza tagged me, I have found I am tagged by Elke, Austria and Sandie, Australia for the Thinking Blogger Award again. Does it mean I can tag other ten blogs more? It's impossible, because I know most of my favorite links have been tagged already. But I would like to use my right.

1,Bears Embroidery Den
I know Bear has been so busy to post on her blog long time. But she has come back recently.

2,Pinyon Creek Stitchin'!
Most of you know she is an excellent cqer. Her stitching is amazing.

3, On the banks of Bay Creek
This is a blog of Dawn Smith about making journals. I love her works. They are inspiring. And when I was a lonely cq beginner I don't know how much I learned from her "Crazy Quilting Central" site.

4, altering thoughts
To tell the truth, I don't know anything about Pat but only what I read on this blog. But still I love this link. I think she is so creative and original.

5,Ullas Fiber Blog
Her blog is very quiet. But looking through her pages and listening to her deep voices, I always feel refreshed and sharing basic human interests.

Here is more information about Thinking Blogger Awards.

Hiroko's Dragon

When I tagged five blogs I picked up one from Japan, Hiroko's "Go!Go!5", though I was not sure I had been expected to do only from Bloggers. I found she had uploaded photos of an awesome embroidered dragon on her flickr albumn. It's so stunning, I can't help recommending you to have a look.

Jo's Block

I have finished Jo's block of Tradewinds DYB.

Her block is Victorian autumn colour but it's spring here. Cherry blossoms are blooming.

Basic stitching has been done.

Beading is finished but still I feel unfinished.

Now petals are floating in the wind restlessly.

I was tagged

I was tagged by Lorenza from Italy for the Thinking Blogger Award. Now I have to pick up another five blogs as my favorites. All of my links on the right side of this page are my favorites, so picking up only five is difficult. But I'll try. There are a few of my secret favorites.

1, BöskeZ and Colors
Elizabeth's pastels are as beautiful as her embroideries.

2, Threads Across the Web
Carol's Japanese embroideries are excellent.

3, JUDY SCOTT
I love Judy's colours and works.

4, Juju Loves Polka Dots
Juju's bags made of Japanese fabrics are so cute!

5, Go!Go!5
Even if you can't read Japanese, you would see her embroideries and clothes are so nice.

Here is more information about Thinking Blogger Awards, if you are interested in.

New Hearts

Friendship Doll Swap

Now we are making small spirit dolls for the swap in CQI, which Jo is organizing.

I decided to make mine in Dharma shape, as it's the easiest. And a cotton fabric Kayoko gave me inspired me. I remember Japanese old patchworked kimono for a child had some mask or eye on its back to keep away evils, in the exhibition we went last autumn.

It's hardly looked as a doll.

The ogre's mask is so scare I was afraid everyone liked it. But my worry seems to be useless. I got lots of kind words.

Here are different masks on the fabric. I will make some more.

Ulla in the north of Sweden was interested in this doll swap and joined the CQI. How nice to see her in the same group!! She is introducing another old friendship doll swap between US and Japan before the War on her blog.

Ayako's Block

This picture was taken two years ago in "Yokohama Quilts Week in 2005". I am the middle between Ms Selma, a famous Turkish CQer and my good friend Ayako.

Then Ayako was encouraged to start CQing by Ms Selma and given a Turkish charm, though she had never tried before. She promised her to do that and has made two CQ blocks, named "A Promise" recently.

This is her not first but second CQ block. I love the soft colours and her lovely stitches. They are reflecting her gentle characters very well.

Her embroidery is pretty. She has attended to a class of Tae Sasao, a wellknown embroiderer in Japan.

She lives far from our city. But PC makes us possible to do CQ with all together.

I will show you another of two blocks when it is finished.

Ikuko's Boxes

I introduced some works of Kayoko's from my class before. Today here are Ikuko's beautiful boxes. She is our teacher of making boxes lessen.
