クリスマスクラッカー公開 CQI Christmas Crackers Opened

ＣＱＩで交換したクリスマスクラッカーはクリスマスになってから中を開けてみんなで見せ合うという二度目のお楽しみがあります。私が受け取ったのはシンディとメアリーの二人からでした。

We had received our own crackers before but had to wait to open them until the Christmas Day. Here are two crackers I received from Cindy and Mary.

シンディはクレージーキルトのブロックで包んだクラッカーに、チョコバーまで添えて送ってくれました。

メアリーはご主人が突然亡くなった直後だったそうですが、悲しみの中で精一杯のものを揃えてクラッカーを作ってくれました。
Mary made this for me only three weeks after her husband's passing away. I would like to express my deep thanks and condolence to you, Mary.





今年のクリスマスは子供たちの帰省もなく掃除と荷物整理だけに忙しくしていましたが、遠くから届いたプレゼントが雰囲気を盛り上げてくれました。シンディとメアリー、心をこめて作ってくれたクラッカーをどうもありがとう！！
My children were too busy with their job to come back home. During the season I have been only busy clearing and cleaning up my mother's apartment. Then these beautiful gifts have given me lots of joy in rather boring festive days.

My Class in December/ Tomoko's Christmas Bell Pull

今月の生徒さんの作品はＴＯＭＯＫＯさんのクリスマス・ベルプルです。お父様が入院して１２月は教室にこれませんでしたが、先月から取りかかっていたこの作品が完成しましたと、１０日頃に写真を送ってくれました。彼女は美容師さんです。お客さまたちは、お店の壁に飾られたこの作品をとても楽しんだことでしょう。

Here's a Christmas Bell Pull of Tomoko in my CQ class. She showed me the unfinished work last month. Though she couldn't come to the class in December because her father was staying in hospital, she finished it and sent me these photos. She is a hairdresser and has her own shop. This lovely bell pull must have been hang on the wall as an eyecandy for her customers in this month.

AA Pages in November

１１月に交換した布ページです。
フィンランドのリトヴァから私に届いたもの。雪景色をイメージした布の色と細かなシームステッチ、バリオンのバラは本当に素敵です。

This AA page for me is from Ritva in Finland. I love the snowy winter color very much. Her stitching is so beautiful.







裏のページの言葉は「何かすることに意味があるなら、それをちゃんとすることにも意味がある」というようなことでしょうか？



これは私がスイスのジャンヌに送ったものです。ウールのブロックを作った残り布で作りました。裏に添えたリルケの詩の一節が最初から頭にあって、元々の詩の季節は夏ですが、落花の雪、空から降りてくる愛（降誕）ということで強引に１２月にこじつけました。

Here's my work for Jeanne in Switzland. I used some leftover of my Wool DYB blocks of CQI.



この詩は昔、中学生のときに学研の中学コースに毎月、詩のアンソロジーが載っていてそのとき初めて読みましたが、その後高校生のとき星野慎一訳の長い全詩を見つけてノートに写したりしました。今回、英語訳がないかネットで探してみましたが、英訳もオリジナルのドイツ語のものも見つけられませんでした。日本人の愛誦する詩なのかもしれません。

The poem is a Japanese translation of Rilke's. I've been memorizing these lines since my teens. I tried to find English translation or original one online but couldn't. Maybe it must be a Japanese favorite. I wrote to Jeanne the meaning in English.

How love came to you?
Did it come like sunshine or like floating petals as snow?
Or just like a prayer?
Please tell me the story.

She told me if she could find the English translation or German original, she would send it to me.

１１月の教室 My Class in November

さて１１月の教室の作品です。

Ｙｕｋｏさんはバリオンステッチの練習にと、こういう小さなクッションを作りました。もっと小さく作ったらピンクッション、白やクリーム色でまとめたらリングピローに素敵でしょうね。

Yuko's small cushion. If you change the scale or color, it could be a pincushion or ring pillow.





Ｓｅｉｋｏさんのブロック四枚接ぎの小さな壁飾り。ステッチがびっちり刺してあります。何となく和風の感じで色合いもこれからのシーズンにぴったりの感じです。
Seiko's small wallhanging would be very nice for Japanese New Year celebration in color. Her stitches are so beautiful.






Ｎａｏｋｏさんのクリスマスストッキングです。自分の履いている靴下を実寸で型紙にとったリアルな感じが面白いです。ご主人に「マッチ売りの少女の靴下」と言われたとか。雪の色合いが素敵ですが、色を変えてたくさん作りたいと言っていましたので次回が楽しみです。

Naoko used her own stocking as a pattern. She told me her husband had named it "A stocking of Little Match Girl". Lol. She was going to make more stockings in different color. So I am lokking foward to seeing them in next class.

ボーダーは黒の別珍とアンティークレースを使いました。




捨てないでとってあった、壊れたり片方をなくしてしまった古いイアリングです。
